How financial position and health or longevity are related is not just a matter of declarations, or drawn from common sense or experience. There are interesting scientific findings as well that support this view.

As recent research, reported in the Business Week, revealed, the chances of people of the same age to die early significantly differ according to their level of income. An even more interesting finding was that the chance for early death of those people in the middle income category who had experienced a significant decrease or interruption in their income in the last few years was found to be much higher than that of both the high and low (but stabile) income counterparts.

Other research has shown that people with higher income and in higher social status have better chances to avoid serious illnesses and to recover soon if stricken by some ailment.

Based on the foregoing, it is probably not too farfetched to suppose that insurance is not even purely a financial tool; the financial security it provides might become a factor in physical well-being itself as well.
