Newsletters: ‘FOOD FOR THOUGHT’ & ‘Aren’t You aMAZEd?’
These newsletters offered bits & pieces on money matters to clients, friends and people I care about. With it, I tried to provide value for those who think that while money matters are really just one factor in how our life unfolds, negligence or unwillingness to think about them harms other aspects as well.
They contain some of the gems I picked up on my journey toward becoming a full-fledged personal financial planner / advisor. Soon (Summer 2004), I will start a new series, in which I intend to dwell more on socially responsible / green / ethical investing, and personal financial planning in general, somewhat at the expense of insurance topics, many of which are dealt with on my web pages. Meanwhile, I keep the old issues here, since much of their contents is still relevant.
Your comments and questions are welcome. If you would like to get them before I upload the new issues to this site, please drop me a few lines.

Learning is an on-going necessity in financial fields, just like everywhere else. Our individual circumstances change, our views and objectives change, society, economy, financial regulations and products change, … and to adjust to all these requires new ideas, and new food for thought. Learning involves unlearning as well; some of our old knowledge is not valid anymore. It is the same with this newsletter: I would write those old issues above differently today. Still, most of what I wrote in 1998-99 I see no reason to hide or be embarrassed about. Check them out if you like.
It would have been interesting to document my views during the last couple of eventful years, but I stopped writing the “Food for Thought” newsletter in 1999. The reasons were purely personal; my life as well was too ‘eventful’ in the last few years. It was not just a series of deaths and other shocks, but certainly enough of those to drain too much of my energy from the luxury of newsletter writing. All the travails were perhaps not in vain: today, I am better prepared and more seasoned than I was five years ago, both personally and professionally. Welcome to a new start, the “Aren’t you aMAZEd?” series, in which I’ll try to provide some help for your wondering in the financial labyrinth of life.
