The search results will appear in this window, [[…but when you will click on links there, each referred/found page will open up in a new window (or a new tab, if you’re using one of the more advanced browsers with tabs). You will not see them if your browser is set not to allow pop-up windows. ..]]
You can use the * character if you want to find words with some common root but different ending. For example, a search for crit* will find criteria, critical, or critics. Actually, it’s a good idea to use it. For example, a search for RESP wouldn’t find pages where RESPs are discussed, but a search for RESP* will. On the other hand, RESP* will find lots of mentioning of responsible as well, even if they are unrelated to the discussion of RESPs. In other words, use the * character, but use it judiciously and in an exploratory manner.
If you happen to get too many hits, you may switch to a more appealing (shorter) list if you narrow down the search to page titles, descriptions, etc., by making the respective selection from the small drop-down ‘Within’ menu window, and click on ‘Search’ again. Please notice that you have to change the selection again if you want to broaden the search back to ‘Anywhere’ later. I’d like to draw your attention here as well to the keywords page, that might give you ideas for useful search terms.
On [[…certain…]] the search results pages, you will get links to pages that are not part of my website. You can easily recognize those, because they appear in separate [[.. rectangular frames, without being numbered, and with the ‘Sponsored links’ line heading them. ..]] ‘Sponsored Results’ sections. They are there because I use the free search engine service of Websidestory.com (previously: atomz.com). Again, I have nothing to do with these sponsored pages, therefore I don’t recommend or endorse them in any sense.
